  4.  Articles  defending  8  bit computers
  5. and   especially  C-64  are  regularly
  6. published   on  some  Amiga  diskmags.
  7. They  often  say  that  C-64  scene is
  8. still  active  and not so bad regarded
  9. to what a C-64 is able to do.
  10.  
  11.  But  I'd  to draw your attention on a
  12. scene most Amiga freaks behave like if
  13. it didn't exist.  The ATARI scene.
  14.  
  15.  In a first part, I want to present it
  16. to  you  in  order  you  have a better
  17. image of it and then to warn you about
  18. reactions  you  may  have  against  ST
  19. users who buy an Amiga.
  20.  
  21.  Although   the   ST  scene  is  dying
  22. because  the ST is not anymore able to
  23. compete  with  the  Amiga  due  to the
  24. semi-flop  of  STE  machines,  the  ST
  25. scene  is  nevertheless  a very active
  26. scene.    There   are  many  bands  in
  27. Sweden,   Finland,   France,  England,
  28. Germany,  Iceland  and  of course some
  29. boards in the US.
  30.  And  aswell  as the Amiga scene there
  31. are  many  demos, diskmags, cracks and
  32. so on released everyday.

  34.   And  believe  it  or  not  but  most
  35. coders are on a higher level than most
  36. Amiga coders because they must do hard
  37. to  scroll or overscan by cheating the
  38. synchro.  Or some 3D demos are as fast
  39. as  Amiga  one without using a blitter
  40. but only the MC68000.
  41.   Some  Amiga  bands  have sections on
  42. ST, or ST bands have sections on Amiga
  43. like  TRSI,  Hotline,or  Hemoroids for
  44. example.

  54.  But  at the present time, ST scene is
  55. in  a period of change.  Most ST users
  56. have  bought or are going to buy a new
  57. machine.   The  normal purchase should
  58. be  the  FALCON  but  as  it  is a bit
  59. expensive not so many people are quite
  60. willing to buy it, whereas it's a good
  61. machine  and  even  some  Amiga-freaks
  62. seems to be interested in this machine
  63. (Sanity  already  released a cool demo
  64. on it!).
  65.  But in  the fact, most ST users buy a
  66. PC without being enthusiastic.  So why
  67. they  don't  buy  an Amiga 500 or 1200
  68. you may ask yourself ?
  69.   The  reason is simple; ST users know
  70. that  Amiga  scene  is mostly based on
  71. business  even  if we talk a lot about
  72. friendship on diskmags..., whereas the
  73. Atari scene is really based on friend-
  74. ship,  and  moreover they know that ST
  75. freaks  are regarded as lamers so they
  76. don't  want  to  come to a scene where
  77. they  are  looked like 2nd class scene
  78. actors.

  80.   The  reason  for my writing  of this
  81. article,  is  that  I come from the ST
  82. where  I  was in one of the 10 leading
  83. teams  (Mad Vision) and that I want to
  84. say  to the Amiga scene that they have
  85. all  to win to welcome former St users
  86. in  their  scene, because it is always
  87. good  to  have  new  blood  in a scene
  88. especially  if that people are already
  89. experienced in coding, drawing...
  90.   And  also  because  all  that people
  91. coming  to  Amiga means less people on
  92. boring PC.
  93.    Don't  forget  Amiga  enemy  is not
  94. Atari anymore, but Atari and Commodore
  95. have common enemies:  PC and consols.
